Finance

The New Zealand Government introduced new requirements under the Financial Advisers Act 2008 for the authorisation of financial advisers.  To implement these requirements, there was a need to introduce Financial Adviser qualification under the New Zealand Qualifications framework.  These qualifications are managed and administered by the ETITO.

In December 2009, ASPEQ submitted a proposal to the ETITO for the provision of the services that use computer-based theory exams and workplace assessments to determine the competence of financial advisors to be Authorised under the Financial Advisers Act 2008.  The ASPEQ proposal was accepted and over the following six months, the company worked with the ETITO to develop the software systems, question banks and workplace assessment requirements for financial advisers.  The online booking system was introduced on schedule in April and the exam and workplace assessment services started in July 2010.

  • Computer exam services through a national network of permanent and mobile exam centres.
  • Workplace assessment services conducted by a network of assessors from the financial sector.  These services require the upload and tracking of candidate information and oral interviews into a central repository for assessment and independent moderations.
  • All services are provided on ASPEQ built web application called Tasman.
